Mel Gross, CLU, ChFC, MSFS, AEP

Senior Associate

Mel Gross is a senior Associate of Advisors Financial Services and resides in Houston, Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from UCLA and attended graduate school for a Masters in Accounting at the University of the Americas in Mexico City and University of Houston while doing accounting work in Houston. He went on to earn a Master of Science Financial Services Degree from the American College. He obtained his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in 1972, his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation in 1982 and his Master of Science Financial Services (MSFS) designation in 1984. His nomination for Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) was in 2011. Mel taught LUTC for a number of years and taught continuing education to CPAs through The Center for Professional Education (CPE).

Mel began his career in 1967 and in 1970 joined Sun Life of Canada and had a very successful career over his 28 years with them. Over his 51 year career, he has established and managed a financial planning, insurance and investment practice. Since 1972 he has qualified annually as a member of the Million Dollar Round Table. Multiple years he earned Top of the Table category and now holds a Life Member status. He currently brokers many insurance companies but has a strong affiliation for 9 years with Lincoln National. He was their “Top Advisor of the Year” in 2015.

Mel has been a member of The Rotary Club of Houston for 28 years. Some positions he has held in Rotary are chair of committees, past Treasurer and was very active on Rotary's Lombardi Award committee. He has been a board member of the Anti-Defamation League for almost 30 years. Mel is past president of the Houston Business and Estate Planning Council and a current member. He is also a 46 year member of Society of Financial Service Professionals and past board member. NAIFA is another organization he has been a member of for 48 years and a past board member.

A few other organizations he has participated in are Operation Rainbow (as past chair), an organization that travels the world and provides plastic and orthopedic surgery to children in need. He was instrumental in obtaining several years of grants from Million Dollar Round Table for this wonderful cause. He is past president of the Beth Yeshurun's Men's Club and previous board member of the Synagogue.

Mel is a golfer and a member of Westwood Golf Club. He has been married for 40 years to his amazing wife, Nancy. He has 3 children and 6 grandchildren. He loves the insurance business and enjoys knowing that what he does makes a difference in people's lives. He is always looking for lovers; those people who love their families, businesses and estates.
